Sicily
While in Sicily, I photographed everything that caught my eye. Henri Cartier-Bresson, the father of documentary street photography coined the term “the decisive moment”. The decisive moment is that moment in a picture when the light, the gesture, and everything else come together. It can't yet be seen, only anticipated. I strive to find these moments as well.

There is a subtle humor present in each of my photographs. Whether it be the smirk of a man staring inquisitively into the lens or the gaze and similar pose shared between a Roman goddess and a townswoman with a pail, there is a moment caught and observed. There is something timeless about the faces and places in Sicily and when I encountered someplace or someone that could contribute to my memory, I felt compelled to make a photograph. I might have missed many opportunities to click the shutter at the decisive moment, but I will never lose my memory of beautiful Sicily and how it forever charmed me.[]
